Because he likes to spend a lot of money on oil for no real benefit.

ACTUALLY! A lot of manufacturers recommend it. The only ones I can think of off the top of my head that recommend their own special power steering fluid that is not atf is honda. Always check your owners manual. Off the top of my head I know Ford, Chevy, Dodge, All of their subsidiaries, BMW, Hyundai, Kia, Nissan and Toyota recommend their versions of Dex/Merc in the power steering system.

I can buy two quarts of redline MTL here in town for the price of one quart of royal purple......

I had ROYAL PURPLE in my trans. It would lock me out of second gear in the cold. No beuno.
                Redline fixed that right quick.

Upgrade to a better base oil
Use ATE Super blue for your brakes
Use the recommended ATF for your power steering
Valvoline with LSD additive works great for the diff
And stop trying to peddle ROYAL PURPLE. It's overpriced lower quality garbage that needs to have the most possible hits to this website so that James can make more money than ROYAL PURPLE should.
Thanks so much for your input ill take those into consideration.

sorry that was supposed to go next to the power steering/trans fluid cuz they both use ATF.

I use castrol synthetic/mobil 1 synthetic... It's only around $25 for a 5 quart container at Wal-mart. Everyone in my area using Redline has had no complaints so it must be good stuff.
