    I broughtmy car to the shop to have a clutch installed. I got it back and it goes vvv vvv vrrrrrrrrr and started right up. He said he'd fix it when I got back to jersey and said it shouldn't be a problem. Now I'm in south carolina and had to pushstart my car last night. Fml this will be a long ride home.

    Anyone have any similar stories? Or any ideas to what went wrong?

    Sticky solenoid? Sometimes a few light taps with a hammer is enough to break up whatever is sticking it. Don't go to town on it though...

    Also may have chipped a tooth off your flywheel or gear in your started if it only happens occasionally.

      Unfortunately it could just be a coincidence also. Anyone who has ever done work for anyone can vouch for this. Im not sure how they could break your starter doing a clutch. I guess its possible but it could be it just gave up after 20 years also

        I guess it could bea coincidence. The mechanic said it looked like it was replaced recently. I think he fucked it up. So does he. Said he would fix it when I got back from vaca. I'm gonna try hitting it with a wrench in a little to see if that fixes it..

          So what are the symptoms exactly? It's spinning, but won't engage the flywheel? Any grinding?

            Did they break your space bar too?

            Try the hammer tap trick. Shit got me another month or two from a starter that was on its way out.

              Yes whack it with a hammer somewhere between a loving tap, and driving a barn spike into 100 year old oak 4x4's. you want to free it up but not shatter the magnets in it, and some times thats a very fine line to walk.

                        What sucks is I'm on vaca and took all of my tools out of my car. Maybe I could use a screwdriver and just wack the shit out of it.

                        Anyone else have a shop break stuff while getting work done?

                        They also removed and lost my clutchstop =(
