power window motor diffrent by year?

I need power window motor for 88 325is passenger side. Someone told me motor is different by year is that true? Which year other than 88 I could use?

From what i read there are two types. 84-3/88 is one type and 4/88+ type is the other.

Yes. They are split. Look on realoem.com It gives you the exact dates.

The motor's themselves are the same across all E30's
It's the regulators that differ.

It's a LOT easier to swap the motor, without pulling the regulator. And it's a LOT cheaper to ship on top of that.

I have a motor from an 83 in my 89. No problems at all
I sold one from an 83 to a guy with a 91 318is. No problems at all.
