How many thread left after drain plug in oil pan?

Bought E30 and first oil change and found out oil pan is striped. Did search and found out longer drainplug might work. Do you guys know after installing drain plug into the pan is there any threads left. I am trying to do shown in video

When I went to do my first oil change, I found out that my oil pan was stripped (PO had CAKED the thing in GASKET crap). I found online an oversized bolt with the same thread pattern. Many other guys on this forum had used them with great success, so I bought a box of them (the only way they were sold). I installed mine carefully, and have been leak-free ever since. I have some extras since they weren't sold individually. PM me your adress and I'll pop one in the mail for you.
