Lockton also has BMWCCA rates for DE events and multi-event packages which drops the price a bit even more. With the minimum $2k deductible though it depends on how much you have into the car to decide if it's worth it.

Carnage at an autocross means your car is damaged at a "timed event" which most insurance companies if you read the fine print won't cover.

Yeah, the Vetts don't really do so well. The course is usually pretty tight (Porsche Club). It is funny to see the big Amurrican cars side swipe 5 or 6 cones at once though.

Ah. Sounds like yet another driver error/inexperience. Sucks for the 'Vette and the owner. :(

It looks like the guy went out of control going way too fast in the Z. It also looks like the course was poorly designed as close to the wall as it was. Something that the driver should have taken into consideration when they did the course walk and either remembered to go slow there or bring it up to the safety stewards (and the safety stewards should not have made a course that close to that wall.)

As for the 911 I remember that from a few years ago. The 911 driver exited the course WAY too fast after the finish and didn't have enough time to stop before entering the grid. Driver error/inexperience for not slowing down after the finish (aka doing something really really stupid.) Maybe some poor course design as well but from what I remember there was a good amount of space between the finish and the grid and the 911 driver was just going WAY too fast.

Wow that sucks. The course designers should have probably taken that creek into consideration more when designing the course.

I've only seen 1 wreck in my 6 years of autoxing and the guy admitted that he was being stupid and froze up when his car started to go out of control and hit the gas when he meant to this the brakes. It sucked and I'm pretty sure the car was totaled but he and everyone else were OK.

in nearly 10 years I've never seen a wreck at an autox.. I did see a girl put her boyfriends car through a fence though. scratched the hell out of it.

but, you don't generally need track day insurance for autox, especially not in an E30..

I don't fear crapping my old bucket at tracks days, its bumping into a Murcielago that make me itch.
