How to change SI board batteries?

I just bought NiCd batteries. I read somewhere before soldering to the board I should recharge batteries. Can I use my ni-mh battery charger?

If they're new. You should be fine for just soldering them on.
But, your NiMH charger. Yeah, it will be fine. Just not the other way around. The voltage drop to stop charging is much more sensitive on the NiMH charger, which the NiCd will easily take care of..
