Fuel pump question

Hi Guy's

My fuel pump is not pumping, it's eight years old, is that about the limit?
Pig tailed it to the battery and nothing happened. Any ideas?

Tap the top of it with a ratchet while getting power. see if kicks on.

crank the engine and test the lead to the pump for voltage w/ multimeter or fuse 11. if getting power and nothing happens then prob time to replace

^He said he directly jumped the pump from a 12v source and nothing happened.
