Good price for 2007 335i coupe?

Long time, no see.

I'm trying to get a newer BMW. I test drove my friends 335i and fell in love. It reminds me of my B5 S4.

I found a seller who has a 2007 335i coupe, 6 speed, 37k miles... he is asking $24.5 but I might see if I can get it for $23k to $24k.

I am super tempted but wary due to the bullshit with the HPFP.

Remarks? Opinions? :D

07's are the fuel pump fun year.
There is also a new mandatory recall for that year on the engine. I dont recall what for, but I think it was to lower the compression?

Maybe you can use this in your buying strategy. 335's are awesome cars to daily.

the fuel pump problem is for ALL year 335i TTs.
The FP problem has been solved for about 4 months now under Warranty.
(lets keep our fingers crossed on that).
The new recall was a DME update to smooth out shift points and idle.

ive had my 335i with a shit load of mods for a few years now (i beat the piss out of it) and have had NO problems what so ever but as far as the FP problem I am deff one of the luckier ones.
I have friends that are on their forth and fifth ones, all under warranty so they really don't care.
that seems to be a good price depending on options.

I just called a dealership and they are extending a 5 year/120k service for the fuel pump. But if they try to say it needs a software upgrade, I might have to pay out of pocket.

Perfect. You see I'm hoping to have a car like my previous S4: I can daily it, hit the track, and still have enough room for everything else. It seems like a perfect car for that and you should know. :D

Have you had issues with overheating? I heard something about these cars not having oil coolers and what have you. Anything else I should be aware of because I am very close to pulling the trigger on this car. How is the insurance, actual gas mileage. ETC.

The car has the sport, cold weather package, grey exterior with saddle brown interior. It looks soooo good.

the N54 motor also had some problems with the turbos rattling- a bit annoying but doesnt hurt anything- its the wastegate bar, needs new turbos most of the time. all in all the twin turbo cars seem to have very few problems compared to all the hassle with the other motors and the injectors right now.

I think you would be better of with a used E46M I love mine, its fun around twisties and has pretty decent power. Not to mention the sound of it is sex, now a days you can find some for cheap with decent mileage. just my .02

Rod bearings and VANOs faliure.

That's all I have to say to that, unless you can afford to do rod bearings about every three oil changes.

Rod Bearings was mostly the early models (01-02), thats why they did the change to TMS 10-60 oil. "Every three oil changes" a bit too much dont you think??.. The vanos Failure is a hit and miss type of deal some people suffer from and other survive. I've had my e46M for about 3yrs, only issue I've had was wasting too much money on tires because that car is a blast to drive. Just maintenance is they key, really thats the key in any BMW.

Just do some search on what car fits your needs best, the E46M fit my "speed fix" pretty good and I have my e30 as a daily. So I kind of planned it out to what would be best for me as should you, because dont get me wrong 335's are sweet just wouldn't trade my M for it ;)

Guess you didnt see that even the cars with the recall have problems and wear out rod bearings.

get an e46 m3. might be older but you wont vomit every time you look at it.

Mine has the factory oil cooler, if you car has the sport package there's a good chance yours does to.
Unless your going to heavily mod the car you need not worry about a oil cooler.
You can still do intake, gulf-T mod, IC, down pipes and a jb4 on a mid setting with out a oil cooler.
Anything more than that you may want to get an oil cooler.
But even at that level your at 400WHP set the JB4 at max and your at 430+.
Add meth and well you get the idea.

As far as a s54 m3 you only need worry about the Rod bearings from 2001 to early 2003, but have a dealer run the vin as a lot of these have been repaired under factory recall.
Another thing to consider if you looking to add HP is that the S54 cost a fortune to mod.
To get you 450 HP your looking at around 10-15K.
To get that from a 335i about 1200-1500.00 (add 6-800.00 id you don't have oil cooler)
