    MaCcO?

Today after i fianlly got my e30 back on the road i stopped by macco for a quote on full boddy work from the doors back and paints on the entire car. with thier "premuim" paint it came out to $600 with tax. i knew this was a very low price but with there 3 year clear coat guarentee is it worth it?

ive thought of going to get a quote from vlad or levent but iim afriad that it will be way above my budget

check out my project thread in my sig for pictures

I DoN't ThiNk LeVenT hAs a pAiNt sHoP. - why am I typing like this? I'm sure he'd just farm it out.

Vlad on the other hand does awesome work. He might even work with you to show you how to do the prep - give him a ring. I hear he's a nice guy in person. ;)

Oh....and it's all about the prep. Do some google-ing. There's some awesome threads of guys that knew nothing, and prep'ed their cars - with darn good results....not as good as a pro, but almost. But it will take an noob (like myself) about 80 hours to prep a car (?) something like that. It's a PITA. You'll hate life. Also - paint and supplies, unless you have the hook up cost money. Paint is surprisingly expensive on it's own.

If you do the macco job, remove ever trim part yourself - tail lights, grills trim, door molding, bumper trim, Go crazy. Do tons of stuff so the can spend all the time on the body and paint. People say the macco job isn't bad in of it'self, but they don't mask well. It's time consuming, and most customers don't notice the details - they just want the shine.

With that said, I hear the real secret is to find the guy in town that does the paint for the hot-rod crowd. $1500 and he'll include a reach around.
