my car is officially the loudest stock eta in the world

yeah... well, the hole in my exhaust turned into straight pipes right at the bass of the downpipes bout 1/2 an hour ago

i've been procrastinating getting a new exhaust for the longest time & it finally caught up w/ me.... the exhaust basically snapped right at the base of the downpipes just after it goes 2-1... BEFORE the cat, even before the 02 sensor

i freakin shat my pants when it happened cuz i was at about 4k rpm in 3rd gear gettin onto the highway @ full throttle... i thought my stereo exploded or something ;) it sounded like a fucking NASCAR it was so loud...

i got it wired up to the transmission bracket w/ a wire hanger for now & i'm gonna get somethin to close up some of the gaps so i can get to work the next couple days. after that i'm goin to a stock 325i exhaust since i already have a connection to one from the cat back to the tips, now i just need the rest of it from the headers to the cat... any leads in the New England area? 8)

The looks people give you when you're forced to drive with open exhaust in an old bmw are priceless.

Had almost the same thing happen in my 325 when the U clamp holding my headers to the downpipes came loose when I hit 3rd gear once and started dragging on the road causing a shower of sparks!!!! My friend thought my motor shot a rod through the block or something.

i have a feeling that's where i'm heading... but u can't buy a used cat retail, soooooo... we'll see what happens & whatever happens better happen soon, cuz my car is fucking loud, even w/ the exhaust being held up in place by a freakin coat hanger

I still can't remember if I buaght my manifolds from him or nto as I made a large pruchase from him for some sensors and the front crank pulley for my 2.7i.

You're welcome to come down to my place and rip the exhaust off of the 325e. Its got a cheap muffler on it, but the cat is good as far as I know.

damn brew, i would, but i'm already 1/2 way to a full 325i setup... might as well go the distance....

if it falls through & i need to fix it in a pinch, i'll swing by though. thanks for the offer bro

Damn, quick reply. No problem, good luck w/ the dual exhaust set-up; thats the route I would take in your situation, too.

You can use a soda can with the top and bottom cutoff, then wrapped around your pipes and hose clamed in place.

PRetty damn ghetto, but it'll seal up the holes until you buy an exhaust.

hmm... decent idea... but unfortunately this is right at the base of the 2-1 Y joint... so it's a little oddly shaped... although it still could work... we'll see

Yes, and I know them well. running nothing from the cat back for about a month in a multi-colored bimmer. It was especially fun to rev real high in gear and get lots of people looking at my "beater" zooming down the street. Good times!!

To bad I have a muffler now

lol. I've heard a 325i before with only headers and it was LOUD!!! HAppened when Josh, Jordan and I put the engine in Josh's car. Had to test drive it before we put the exhaust on. You should have heard how loud it was in the garage though!!
