I'm gonna say the driving part is out of the question. I've driven my car with confidence and i've never had a hit like this, I went over it with my dad's 09 sentra and it still felt completely absurd.
I'll tell the story when I get a picture of the skid plate..Raceskids is hooking me up though so props to them.
Big props to e30lolz, we were toying around between my E30 and his E39 M5 and he gladly stopped and helped as much as he could. Great guy.
you and jimmy make me worried... i never intended on buying a plate... now im going to start talking to peerless soon...
honestly i never though i'd see the day where i'd crack my shit, i'm not TOO low and I had a shitload of space between my plate and my pan. you have to run a plate, i never drove my m50 without one haha.
STORY AND AFTERMATH:
Well I was on Jersey US-1 South on my way to The College of New Jersey. I do believe I was in South Brunswick. I saw a sexy sounding E39 M5 that was owned by e30lolz (who posted on this thread) and we were kinda fucking around, no big deal. I took this same exact road during Hurricane Irene in the PISS pouring rain at the same speed I was going the night I cracked my pan, I don't ever recall hitting my skid plate even once even though the road was a bit sketchy. Well while I was messing with the M5, I switched lanes to the left and I guess the middle between the two lanes was what got me. It was a huge bump, like my skid plate hit and my car actually caught air. I've hit my plate a couple of times before, but this time definitely was different and I knew I was fucked. When I pulled over, there was no trail of oil, no smoke from my engine, and I thought I was fine. Jacked my car up and looked at my plate and my plate was sheered off CLEAN from the bend that goes to the steering rack, it was nuts. Checked my oil level and surely enough, nothing. e30lolz kept me company and sanity and definitely was a cool dude while I called my friend Jimmy O'Donnell to come pick me up and figure things out. I ran to the two nearest gas stations and asked if I could push my car and leave it there overnight, one gas station dude was sketched out about the idea, but the other one said that I could leave it there as long as I want since its a 24hr station and it's public parking. So I pushed my car with Jimmy and my other friend about 3/4 of a mile down the road to the gas station and left it there. Jimmy then drove us to the college of new jersey and we figured out the towing situation the next night.
^carnage.
^how she looked like 48hours before the incident
so basically I'm out of a pan and a plate, but raceskids is giving me a good deal on a new one and I've located a pan. Not looking too forwards to pulling my motor but it's not too difficult.
