AAA saves my ass 2x in one week

so i bought tripple A back when i got my first e30 in january, got their premier membership, free tows and roadside help...never thought i'd need it, and didn't until last saturday.

background: bought ill4noreason's m50 vert, we THOUGHT we fixed an alternator issue by replacing one lead, recharged the battery and put it all back together, i went off to get ready for work. no issues.

so i get off work at 1.30am sunday morning, hop on the highway and realize its not letting me give it full throttle...DA FUCK?
i keep downshifting trying to find power till it dies and i coast to the break down lane.

i know its the alternator right away...fan-tidly-tastic. best part, i left my wallet at home figuring i wouldn't need it...HA. had my momz txt me the info for AAA, called ill4noreason and he came to wait with me for the tow.
got my ass taken home at 3am. oh and ill and ubernasty were both there at 9am the next morning to help swap in a new alternator...yeah good guys.

so that's AAA saves my ass the first time, this next one is just me being lazy and using what i pay for :).

i got lazy, didn't fill up before i left to head to a buddies house and would have been fine...if i didn't sit in rush hour traffic for 45minutes at idle.
car starts to die, i say OH FUCK! start to get on the offramp and its empty, i coast to a stop. but wait, i have my wallet! AAA dialed right away, 10 minutes later i had a gallon of gas in my tank. best part the gas station was about 2blocks away from the exit, but hey, who the fuck am i to deny joel(AAA gas man) from helping me out right?

lol so if your e30 is your DD, and you are a busy guy like me, just get AAA. cheap insurance to never be left stranded.

I pay 175 a year I think. I barely use it, but when I do it is worth it.

AAA has been my x-mas present from my g-ma since I've been driving. They've saved me numerous times. Really for what you pay and get out of it, no driver should be without it.

            AAA

No offence but the only people I know with AAA is nerds who cannot wrench/change a tire, or they are really old. Keep up with maintaining your car and you should be fine. All my years of driving and never had a break down. The real reason I am laughing is my brother's friend called AAA to work the jack for him. He could not figure out how to get the hub cover off too xD

I have the super-duper deluxe, premium plus rv plan. I tow a camping trailer quite a bit and if I were to blow a motor or something, I get 200 miles of towing including my trailer.

Unless you have the e30 from hell. I don't usually carry an extra rear subframe, brake calipers with new lines, or a spare set of injectors, so yeah AAA is something I'm definitely looking into.

i'm in for the towing only because a 200,000miles automatic tranny is a time bomb.

You can have all the wrenches and do all the preventive maintenance in the world and something unseen can still break and I'm not one for wrenched on my car on the side of a highway.

But yes, I do agree to an extent. Friend of mine used to run wrecker and often was called on AAA calls. You'd be amazed what some people are incapable of doing. Like a car full of dude bro jock douchers who had to call to change a tire cause they didn't know how. The worst he told me about was a guy who's car wouldn't start. He got there, the steering wheel was locked. 1/4 turn of the wheel and the car fired right up, the moron was baffled.

yeah and the ONLY thing that EVER happens on the road is you pop a tire. and that is the ONLY reason you need AAA.

OR maybe you need AAA when your headgasket goes on your E30, so you start DDing the E28 that you bought for $250 and hastily completed the 5-speed swap that you were in the middle of (was automatic) so you can drive it and because of that you didn't have the opportunity to do preventative maintenance and you have to DD it anyway, and the fuel pump overheats and seizes in the middle of Denver because it is trying to pump too much rust from the rusty gas tank that you were unaware of because you didn't check it and you HAPPEN not to have another fuel pump or gas tank on hand at the time then MAYBE AAA may come in handy.

                              Just sayin.
