New IS Lip + parking lot mini-r3v

So i picked up a new IS lip for my '89 325is yesterday from a fellow r3v'r and immediately painted it up and let it dry overnight. My car has never had the correct lip on it, my guess is the Buckhead Betty that owned the car previously knocked it off one too times and the dealer put on the shorter one. I installed this morning. Please excuse pic quality.

    After:

So far so good, right? I took a celebratory strut to a buddies shop to do some consulting on 240z car slammage, and then on to Willies to get a pork taco, etc. I am enjoying the cool weather today, eating outside, casting occasional glances at my ride's new look and i hear that unmistakable sound of plastic breaking. There is a 4x4 dodge exiting the parking spot next to my car, oh no!

Tortilla chips went flying as i made my way to the scene of the crime. A small dent in the fender, smashed marker light and side trim. Damn.

He calls his insurance while i try to figure out how to make a non emergency call to the police. Cops on the way, he learns the insurance has lapsed on his truck. Not at all wanting to be in that spot he suggests cash on the spot but he is thinking $100 and i am thinking more like $600. As the cop rolls up we agree on $500.

The dent looks worse in the pic than in real life. It's the first accident in the E30, I think i did ok? Is now the time for euro trim?

I think the taco has curdled in my stomach now.

$500!? I wish motherfuckers would back into my shit and poop their pants! It's already rusty, so no harm done.

Seriously! Or run into my already ruined rear-quarter. Then I'd claim it wasn't there already(that would work)... Glad to see you came out alright!

i would double check the damage. i recently got rearended (nohomo) at a creeping pace. we were at a stop. and he was texting and hit my car. at first i thought it was just the trim then i noticed my bumper also got tucked (shocks gave out) and the bumper carrier was broken. bumper shocks, carrier, and trim are like 700. u cant even tell i was hit. insurance quoted 1200 for the repair.

I really don't think that compares to a ding in the fender.

Pop out the dent, get Euro trim. Front and rear so it matches. With the other $400, take care of the neglected maintenance items. Then, park by the guy that hit you more often.
