who knows hartge? i need help

most of you already know about my newest thread being in lebanon and the stuff im gathering here, i need help with the engine i bought. its an m30b35 with the hartge valve cover, it has headers but they do not say hartge, there is no hartge serial on the head any where. the head is a 1708843 head the block is stamped with a big 3.5 on it the intake manifold is stamped with a big 3.5 on it also, the cam has these numbers stamped on it: 02290002, the ecu doesnt have hartge stamped on the chip or anywhere, but it has this wierd stamp on the head that says HJ19.

i have found nothing about that particular stamp.
how can i authenticate the engine?
maybe it has hartge internals but its not made by hartge? thus the missing hartge serials?

please any help is greatly appreciated.

Anything is possible, but that sounds highly unlikely.

You've just discovered the meaning behind the old saying: "Never judge a book by it's cover." Looks like someone just stuck a Hartge valve cover on a regular M30. Not exactly rocket science.

The nose of the car had the hartge tag on it near the right schock tower too sorry i forgot to mention that, and what about the engraving that it has on the head? It says hj19 very nicely engraved, all the other b35s ive seen it doesnt say anything

you could pull one of the headers off an shoot a little brake cleaner in the port and see of the head has port work for starters.

like you said earlier in the thread though "people do what they want and think is cool to the cars here" the chances are good that you bought a stock motor with headers and a hartge V/C.

Yeah, i know but the e34 was imported from japan.

My 2 concerns are the stamp on the cam and rhe stamp on the head that says HJ19 very nicely engraved
