at home (Alberta/ Western Canada No Salted roads) lots of snow, vehicles DO rust...eventually... this can take like 10-12-15 years, shorter or longer for individual cars.

here (East coast of Canada, LOTS of Salted roads, poorest part of Canada), you don't often see cars more than about 7-8 years old on the road, why? they Disintegrated from rust.

    really

edit* e36 m3's must have been a dime a dozen everywhere BUT Canada, I just do not see many around at all, like 1 in the last 2-1/2 years here.

My E30 may be seeing its first snowy+salty winter ever :(

How many of you drive your car through every winter and don't have rust?

What sort of tips and tricks do you have for reducing the chance of rust?

I have gone through and undercoated the bottom of the car, painted flat black over the fuel lines which had some rock chips on them, and POR 15'd some bare portions of the jack points. I will be waxing the paint before the first snow storm to help protect it, and will be garaging the car when I am at home. It rarely gets warm enough to rinse the car off during the winter here but I will make every effort I can to rinse it as often as makes sense if I can figure out a way to do so in the extreme cold (hopefully once a week ).

thoughts? experiences? should I buy an e36 M3 for winter duty to save my e30 from inevitable rust? or will it be no big deal as long as I keep things sprayed off?
Working...
