No. You can buy a Euro S50 for that money. I'd need to know history of engine and why its out car for that money in first place before I'd make that decision.

You're going to get all kinds of answers. I would pay 1500 for an S52, but knowing the head has to be resurfaced, what other damage is there? I'd offer less and be prepared for at least a minor rebuild.

The seller is vague, says it overheated but still runs and does not overheat? Doesn't mention any other damage but I am skeptical as well.

I'd do a compression test first, and if all checks out, i'd buy it.

Paid $1700 for mine from a salvage. Ran just a touch warm for 300 hundred miles before the headgasket finally let go.

But figure up your cost/time to replace the headgasket/bolts/deck the head. Then there is plenty of "while I'm in here" stuff to do since you've got it all apart and the engine has 120k miles on it.

                              Stay away.

Paying a little more for a running parts car is worth the peice of mind, and youll get a much better deal. You have to be patient with these things. 1500 is going rate and all.. But think of it like when you go car shopping.. And none of the good deals are there when you want them to be.. Then down the road 'the one' pops up when youre not ready.
                              Same thing.
