Towing friends car with e30 tow hookl

My friend is stuck, he needs a tow like a mile or two

Can I attach a tow strap to an e30 tow hook to tow him. The car in question is a buick coupe

OP, you have got to think about it--the tow hook is designed to support ebough force for a 3000lb car, go back when there is as little traffic as possible, and go easy on it. Should be fine for short distances.

Then, tell your friend to get AAA.

Can I see a pic of the tow strap you're using? Very interested because incase I have to tow one of my e30's with the other one.

You probably already know this but make sure theres someone driving the car being towed and the power is on so they can use the power steering and brakes.

The tow strap was my buddy's.. it was at his house. I didn't get to see it

Ive towed a Merkur XR4Ti before and thats plenty of solid. Esprcially with it having an entire spare engine set up and trans in the car.

Not in all states....

I've put WAY more than 3k on my tow hook. Probably upwards of 10k in short bursts. Pulled a jeep cj that was one with the earth out, and 3 miles. No big deal.

up here it is illegal to flat tow any car on public roads.


if your just pulling along flat roads then i dont see a problem, if you wanted to pull him out of a ditch... that would be a different story...

remember, the e30 tow hook is designed so it could pull 3000lbs out of a ditch with lots of friction...
