How are you supposed to give a few days notice for being sick? People get sick and rarely go to the doctor when they feel like crap. Sounds like he's just being a dick.

At my job you have to bring a note and it has to state what is the reason for the visit. Doctor visit is half day, sick visit gives you the day or whatever the Doc recommends. With that said tomorrow I have blood work scheduled, pay $10 copay, and get a note for half a day. Then go home and install my Euro Smileys with HID's

Did that once in nursing school. Just call up your doctor and tell them you had food poisoning and your boss wants a doctors note. They will write one up.

I would never ask any of my employees for a doctor's note...unless they had given me a reason to think they were skipping work for a reason and they put the business in a bad spot. Either he thinks you are lazy or he's a raging asshole.
