3 series classic

I saw an old e30 a few weeks ago here in Austin, dark color, I think gray or black (it was a while ago, I just remembered it today), except it had no badges on the back. It had "3 series" painted red on the left side of the trunk and "classic" painted red on the right side. As for the condtiion, it was mediocre, no mods that I could see. Is this just some custom paint work or has anybody else seen this?
