So whats the big deals with e34's?

Are they really all they're cracked up to be? Do they feel as good as an e30? Some guy on jalopnik's name is "and e34 is and e30 but better'...honestly it's hard to believe.

It's hard to believe because it's not true. E34s are like bulky, fat E36es. (Excluding the M5.)

They just look like bigger, late model, sedan e30s. That is all.

I loved my E34. It was a 5 speed M30 car with springs, shocks, and sways. I'd definitely own another.

They are like big, comfortable E30's that still handle decent.

The E34 is a tuna boat compared to the E30.

A nice, soft, comfortable-yet-sporty tuna boat.

The E34 is just about the best value in "adult" cars, IMO.

They feel really nice and drive great...but nothing like an E30.

It's all relative. It's his opinion that it's better. I'm not real into them but I can see someone who likes older BMW's but wants a larger, possibly better equipped car to go with the E34 over an E30.

If I needed a sedan, I would never look for an e30, I would have either a e34 m30 or an e28 m30 (euro'ed). I've had 4 e34's (2 tourings 2 sedans). It was my first BMW and the car that got me into it all. When I sold my last one I said I was done with e34's, but I'm starting to get that hankering again. I would love a stanced turbo'ed e34!
I want a nice set of smoked MHW's (I know, get it line)

That's what does it for e30 guys. e34s can be torquey luxo cruisers, as in 540s, or a hyperactive screamers, as in M5s. These days the e39s are so cheap the only e34 that's really worth messing with is an M5. Fun engine, good suspension, OK brakes (US spec), nice aero bits, fantastic seats.

Even so, the M5 isn't exactly quick by today's standards. If you accept that you aren't going to be blowing doors off anything worth bragging about, it is a lot of fun and the engine's characteristic wail is intoxicating.

E34's obviously weigh a lot more than E30's. E34's are great because they can be bought cheap, they have much more room, ride like butter and very comfortable daily drivers. Of course the trade off is weight and handling, and a ridiculous front end design that is a pain to replace all of the control arms etc. I prefer a heavy comfortable car for a daily such as an E34 but for fun factor, E30 wins (...that's why we're all here after all).

Not a fan of e34s AT ALL, but I never drove the M5 version.
