Looking at buying an e30 parts car to fix up

I have been looking at buying an e30 for the last year, and haven't had much luck finding anything good in the area... Everything in the Midwest is covered in rust and needs a lot of work and if not it sold the day before I call.

I found this parts car, a 1989 325is, that isn't to far away from where I am and it's in about as good of condition as most e30's around here!!! It's only missing about 5 parts (interior is complete I know the picture shows it missing a few things). Engine is included but has overheated. Body is straight with minimal rust but not sure on the condition of the paint. Also comes with new Bosal exhaust.

Sorry about low quality pictures but the owner is at school and couldn’t get me any more.
Think boom-monkey's car when he had Kopi's and that is how I want it to look ;)

Anyways, I am thinking about buying it and if its not in to bad of condition fixing it up this winter. If it isn't worth fixing I'd just part it out. Either way its going to be a good deal at the price I can get it!!

Right now I drive a Audi 100s incase you care. Its too big and an automatic. Its a very good passenger/comfort car its just not very fun...

So does anyone think this sounds like a good idea or what? Asking price is $500 but seller has told me about 4 times that the price is VERY negotiable so I was thinking about offering $300. With the low cost of the car I would have plenty of money left for mods.

not an easy or relatively cheap method to get a clean e30...

i'd rather buy one in nice condition. but good luck w/ it and have fun...

    welcome to R3V

You'd be much better off finding a really nice one in CA and then driving it back.

Yeah I thought about getting one out in VA. I realize the amount of work required in fixing a car like that up. Don't want it to be perfect just nice. If I get it and there is to much shit to fix I'll just part it out and make some money to go twards a nice one.

listen i made that mistake and im in way over my head.
paid 400 for a 87 325 and i had to buy another one just for the parts.
i can sell what i dont need but its just a hastle and alot of hours.. its cheaper in the long run to buy one in good condition and go from there.
