Also, the motor falling out thing isn't really that catastrophic. One Need For Speed offramp dorifto attempt landed me with two broken motor mounts and two broken trans mounts. The subframe will hold your drivetrain in. Good times.

Same sort of thing happened to Danny's old car, except it got fucked.

Bolts backed out. The ears aren't snapped. You can see them in the picture.
User error. Not cars fault.

All of these repairs are symptoms of a 20+ year old car. I have done all of this sans the caliper falling off. I use blue locktite on my caliper bolts.
IN FACT, 3/4 of your list I did in the first month to sort the car out. I replaced every piece or rubber with urethane the first week, re-did the entire brake system, CSB, Guibo, shift linkadge motor/ tranny mounts, and more. I did these things initially, and haven't touched anything I worked on since (7 years later). So I wouldn't call the first part bad luck, I call it preventive maintanence. The caliper thing befuddles me though.

Most of the stuff that you replaced actually seem like normal things to be replaced on the e30.
Now that caliper issue you have is pretty scary and something you would never expect in a million years. Did the bolts back out or did the two ears off of the strut housing both snap?

I was gonna buy that car, but you beat me to it... Hope your luck changes for the better man. Look at it this way, eventually you'll replace everything and it will be a new car.

how in the fuck does that even happen. twisted axles causes the engine to fall out?
What in the fuck?
and how in the fuck can you push the car, with an engine dragging underneath it. You certainly didn't lift the car off of it,
oh wait. nevermind. I get it. thats what you were thinking.
Bah. thats not even a problem. new strut tube and call it a day. but if I were you I would reconsider working on that car. I neglected my car for nearly two years, and haven't anywhere near the amount of issues as you.
Lucky for my car though. I stopped neglecting her.Last edited by TurboJake; 10-20-2011, 04:25 PM.
