identify this oil pressure 12x1.5 adapter

    Hello guys
Currently gathering parts for a gauge install.
after some researching and googling i ran across an old thread on bimmerforums posted by "Stuck" i pmed him and his response
"Way too many years ago man, what you see is what I've got left. Sorry."
I asked him if he made his own adapter to plug into the stock housing and a 1/8 npt or m10x1.0 fitting. common sizes for pressure senders

I also asked him if it was necessary to completely remove the oil filter housing if that one bolt is removed?

    same question to you guys
does anyone know of an adapter that looks like this one.
it looks like it clears everything perfect.
it doesnt look like the parker performance one or the bmp adapter

and what needs to take place to tap that bolt to install a oil temp sender onto it( in 1/8 npt size)

Hmmm, I've never seen that one before. Here is what I have but not installed yet. I plan on using this to run into the VAC manifold.

The bottom one just looks like a small aluminum block with a threaded hole in it for the sender, not sure about the bolt that was used, it would have to be a hollow (banjo) bolt to allow oil pressure to flow through it to the sender. Would not be that hard to DIY if you had a small piece of aluminum and a drill + tap, plus the proper size banjo bolt + crush washers. You could make the thread size whatever you want, but 1/8 NPT is probably a good choice.

The top one looks like he just drilled the stock bolt (also a banjo bolt) that holds the oil filter housing to the block. Should be pretty easy to do, and I think there's plenty of meat in the head of that bolt to drill and tap for 1/8" NPT for a standard temp sending unit. If you're asking about removing that bolt and leaving the filter housing, etc on the block, then yes, you can do that, but it'll probably fall off the block and hang by the cooler lines- which is not a problem. Be aware that the thing will leak oil out no matter how thoroughly you think you drained the oil.

EDIT: IIRC, you should use a tapered reamer to taper the hole you make for an NPT fitting , if you go "by the book", but 21/64" drill bit should work OK on soft metal like aluminum, an 11/32" drill bit is a hair to large, but would probably work OK too if you can't find a 21/64" or if it's a little too tight. Basically, you drill the hole in the aluminum block, then you use a 1/8 NPT tap and tap threads in the hole. Pretty simple, but you want to be VERY careful to drill straight and not too deep.
