Emptying is no big deal for me.

Remember I am only vacuuming cars out and sucking water out of carpet that I shampoo.

The old filter was shot, dont know how. I was sucking up tar and mineral spirits... oops. The filter had rips and was shot. Whatever, I was a good son and replaced it and now I will never touch it again.

Good link on the cyclone thing, but it is overkill for me

Rigid - Home Depot usually blows them out the door as a traffic enticer post Turkey day for like 50% off.

I've got two of them and they work really well.

Probably. Black Friday is when I go out and pick up new tools and other things I need. I'm that guy who stands outside in the cold at 3AM to save $20 on a set of wrenches. I do like to tell people they only have one of something and get them all hyped up so I can watch the anarchy from afar.

I digress... www.theblackfriday.com usually posts up the ads well before so you can keep an eye out for a deal. I plan on grabbing a Rigid from Home Depot this year myself.

                    I like this.

Its a 12A motor... has the nice handle, and its from COSTCO: Home of the worlds best return policy

Depot has done these deals for like 3 or 4 years now between T Day and NYears and to top last years sales volumes I'd put $ on it they will do it again.

Yeah, I got the 12 and 16 gallon versions and the 12 is tough to beat for size/power/ease of storage but the higher power of the 16 makes big jobs a cakewalk.

I have never had to bust out the 16 for any car project work btw.

my 9 gallon ridgid never gets anywhere near filling up doing multiple cars a day, anything over 9 gal is way overkill. a 5 gallon would be more than enough too, especially if you empty it after every job...
just go with ridgid, theyre plenty of vacuum for auto detailing

I will get a a ridgid. Shit why am I wanting a $500 vacuum.. that money should be spent on an extractor!!!

So I guess the question is... why/how did my Dad's 5 gallon get destroyed... I pick the filter off a little after each use... But I also empty it completely and wash out the inside every single time
