doing water pump on an e10 2002

Car does not have heat. It's my friend's and I never checked to see if its just a resister or motor or what. But we are doing the water pump today. Any tips on getting the coolant system bled without it?

The motor does not need to turn on in order for you to open up the heater core. It opens up with a manual cable on the dash that goes to a lever in the front cowl. The valve in the front cowl is on the passenger side of the engine compartment. You may need to drive the car up on ramps while you bleed the system.
