I've actually never thought of the concept of jack stand pads... kinda like the pocket protector protector

I think your missing the point. pads betw the jackstand and the car...not the ground.

oh. I see what you're saying.

and yeah, for the most part I don't give a fuck. that or put it on something that doesn't matter. I touch up the frame rails with undercoat every few months anyway.

I asked something similar to this on a subaru forum and was received with confused responses and condemnation by mechanics about jacking and having a car on jack stands. It seems as though most people are too lazy to protect the jacking points "where are just crimped and spot welded sheet metal" rather than protect them properly.

Get a set of four hockey pucks and cut slots in them deep enough so that the folded sheet metal is not supporting any of the weight. They'll last forever.

                      Plasti dip.
But why put them on the pinch weld. Just use the unibody frame.

i always put something soft between the jack stands and frame. It also distributes weight evenly.

I just use wooden blocks that I cut up from scrap wood lying around.

Wrap about 10 layers of duct tape around the business end of the jack stand in a figure-8 pattern. Mine have been like that for years and still haven't worn through to the metal. Much more stable than using a wood spacer.

carpet scraps work well. Depends on your jack stands. I use wood on my jack or a hockey puck if you have flat top ac hydraulic stands. If you have the standard cheapo chinese ratchet stands, go to cheapo chinese import headquarters and you'll find your prize.
