    school me on the 318ic

Still new to the bimmer world. Theres a 318ic for sale in my area and its in my price range. I was in the market for a 318is but none are coming up and I need a car immediately. What's the difference betwen the 318ic to the 318is?

the most important one has a roof one doesnt,
convertible has more weight near the trunk due to the top, if its auto top (i think...)
vert's body is not as rigid due to not having a roof.
vert's come with sport seats, unless changed by PO
      but as do sport models.
third break light is on the trunk of a vert, apposed to inside the backwindow of the 318is.
much else is different but i dont know all those things :D

The basics (if you don't already know) - the "c" in 318ic stands for cabriolet, or convertible in 'merican. The 318is is a 2 door hardtop. The 318i (though you didn't ask) is a 4 door hardtop.

The convertible, sometimes called cabby here, is heavier but not is stiff structurally due to its missing a roof. Other than that there's not much difference.

So its literally an "is" drivetrain-wise just with the exceptions you mentioned?

One is a convertible and the other is a sport optioned two door sedan. That is all.

                      What IS 'flammed' anyway?

                      BMW made 20,578 m42 powered e30's for North America. 9779 cars were '91 318is 2 doors, 6730 cars were '91 318i 4 doors, and 4069 cars were 318i convertibles. Production for the 318ic's started in '90 and ended in '93. There were 2014 '91 318ic's, 2007 '92 318ic's, and 48 '93 318ic's.

Those production statistics were researched and published by Keith Turner at http://e30ic.com/ btw.

correct me if I'm wrong, but i believe the 318ic came from the factory with a with a GM LS9 6.0 V8. If the price is right you should go for it, the LS9 is a very solid motor and the torque is great.

^ wow people like you guys make me not even want to get an e30 knowing that's the kind of car community I'll be a part of. I asked a simple question, I didn't start a "this is douchebag responses" thread. If your not gonna throw some info just stay off the thread.
