    For those who work at auto repair places

    How much would your shop charge to replace the whole vanos on an M5x engine? (I would supply the vanos)

    see BMW dealer or BMW shop. No place, such as goodyear, would do anything like that. Therefor... price would = arm and a leg

      The $tealer calls for @6 hours. I had one done at Turner for my brothers 1993 e36 325i, and it took them 4 hours. They've developed a new tool that drops the time down to 3.5hrs since then. But no matter how long it takes the $tealer to actually do the VANOS work, you'll still get charged "book" for it.

        BMW warranty 'book' time for it is 26 units. There are 8 units to an hour. 3.25 hours. Customer pay time would be a bit more at most shops looking to dig in your wallet.
