Feeler - Inexpensive bolsters, shift/ebrake boots

I wanted your thoughts on something. I've spent a lot of time redoing my E30 seats and wondering if it would worthwhile to offer that to others. The sport seats are great, but there has to be something between living with them/tossing them and professional reupholstery or even kits?

What would a leather bolster set (in a contrasting color) be worth? The bolsters are always the most worn and the easiest to replace. Would a full set for $150 a seat be great, fair or a rip off?

On the same note, what about shift or e-brake boots? The retailers charge $30-$40 which is an awful lot for something simple. What about $20?

    Thanks!

So you're offering to make these for $20? Or you want to buy them? Your post is unclear. If you could make OEM quality leather shift boots and e-brake boots for $20, people on this forum will be breaking your door down.

Your selling a leather sport seat kit for $150!?! people would jump all over that, me included.

          Thanks!
Ken - I'd be making them.
Slammed - It would be just a bolster kit (so the seat and back cushions, and head rest, would have to be ok.

Would you be willing to do cloth too? Cause, I want cloth sport seats the most. :)

Would it be OEM quality? Would I have to fit it to the frame? Or would yours come just like the OEM BMW one with the frame and everything?

Thanks to all - this helps a lot.

Sean and Bryson - I see no reason to exclude cloth (and I saw a post elsewhere on this board about wholesale Alcantara cloth), just I've spent a lot of time educating myself on leather.

Ken - as for OEM quality, I'd say I'd be using higher grade materials (leather and thread), but wouldn't be replicating the machine sewn french seam (the double seam running along the bolster where the 2 bolster pieces meet). I'll take some very detailed pictures of my work so people can see exactly what they'll get before committing.

As for attaching it, I'd plan on sending the fully sewn bolster pieces (4 pieces in total per seat). Not too hard to attach - take the seat out, seat back off, remove old bolster piece and replace with new one attached in the same fashion as the old one. They should fit like a glove. I'd include detailed instructions. They don't have a frame of their own so the only way I could attach them would be to have the entire seat in my hands. Mailing costs would be excessive, but I could offer that locally.

Thanks for your comments and questions - keep 'em coming!

The only one I have scanned in is the one below my id on the left. I had to shrink it down to fit there....

I'll take a lot more detailed pics of my work and post it before I'd take orders...

My only concern is that the color of the new leather will look off when compared to the color of the old leather. Thoughts?
