You take the head off the m 20 and put it on the m30.

    20 plus 30 = 50 . Hurdur.

You also need the oil pan / pump off of an 89 isuzu Rodeo

Wait wait guys wtf nobody answered his question legitimately, I hear you can put a m50 in a 325i but how about the 318is. I am very interested in this because I want a m50 in my 325e. A serious answer for once will help with my conquest.

On another note does anybody know what I need from the m20 and what I need from the m30 to make the m50?

    and uhm..
    Great Thread For Op!

it'd be easier to just find a 325 and m20 swap it.

The M50 is part of the newer generation of BMW engines which uses the 24 Volt charging system to power the more modern electronics systems like GPS, subwoofers, TVs in the headrest, bluetooth, etc. Everyone I know that has done the 24 volt swap did it because their stock 12 volt or 16 volt e30 electrical system wasnt good enough to handle an alarm, system, and a cell phone charger at the same time. The M50 is just the easiest way to get a 24 volt system.

How fast are you driving when this issue happens? It is a known problem with e30s that the blower motor spins faster with higher rates of speed(comes in the intake faster). So I suggest driving the speed limit.
