guys, will a blower motor from a late model i car go in a 86 eta? and how freely are the fan blades supposed to spin? i have a donor blower motor that spins quietly but only spins when you actually do it your self. no bindind but will not keep turning after you let it go. just dont wana replace mine with a bad part.

replace the blower motor resistor: http://e30.bmwdiy.info/blower-resistor/index.html

also, it sounds like the new blower motor you got is fine, my old cracked unit and the one i replaced it with spun but didn't continue to spin after you stopped spinning it manually. i believe that is normal.

You need a new resistor pack, or you bumped yours out of place or something while swapping motors. It's conveniently located directly beside the motor

you can pull it like if you were pulling a drawer. the speed number 4 bypasses the resistor. it should have come loose when you pulled the blower. its located on the ight side of blower, hard to spot.

maybe i just bumped it cause it worked in all 4 positions before i changed the motors out. hmmmm, maybe i should just pick up a new 1 on the chanch that when i pull it apart again and it is bad i'll have it there. how do you get them out? just givem a yank w/ pliers?

do you have to remove the clip and the blower motor to replace the resistor?

no, it's below all of that. you just grab it and pull it out.

                  it's the blue piece below:

as some others have said, check to see if it's just loose since it was working before.
