On the other hand, they are heavy, more difficult to work on, more complicated, and more sedate than E30s. To each his own.
Outta curiousity, what's more difficult to work on?

I've had the e36 for 4 years now, and I can't think of anything on it that's more of a PITA than on the e30. Front suspension is the same for the most part, the motor is a lot easier to get to stuff (top mounted oil filters, yeeha), and the brakes are just as easy.

Swing wild, brake later, don't apologize.

Rob, what part do you think is harder to work on? I haven't done a whole lot of work on E36's, just suspension, shift linkage, guibo, CSB, all the cooling system work, and some other things, and I think its just as easy if not easier than E30's. The underside of the car and the engine bay are both less cluttered. I think there are more interior panels but that isn't a big nusance to me.

I think the engine bay is tighter (m/s50), and the suspension tear downs i've done seem more difficult, at least in the rear, since there's adjustments you want to keep. You have a ti, best of both worlds

btw- my troubles may very well stem from inexperience, I aint no Master Tech

Just because it is what I do... I can name an E30 with top mounted filters. ;)

There's a lot I don't like about the E36 community in general that turns me off from the car. Something about the E36 just bothers me, and from the E36's I've driven, I much rather prefer the E30.

Now, I'm going back to my sad 318is corner.
The BMW 318 is back. With a vengeance.
