Hopefully this isn't a repost but that god awful version of a classic british show stooped to a new low when they absolutely destroyed a relatively clean looking ETA in their "what small car could replace a pickup" episode. Off roaded the living F#$k out of it, poured a ton of manure all over it and then put it out of its misery by making a monster truck out of it (which was actually mildly entertaining).

I hate it when shows trash cars that I consider classic. Mythbusters did it some years ago to a sweet little Toyota Corona that was in exceptionally good shape. :curse:

How is that different from what members here do every day? ;)

american top gear pisses me off. it portrays the stereotypical american attitude and is not journalistic in my opinion. i feel that they could have grabbed any 3 dudes with good taste in cars (preferably one of them me) and had a more intuitive outlook into motoring all together, rather than unentertaining episodes on ruining everything they touch. another thumbs down for USDM.

There were actually 2 eta's destroyed in that episode. Someone on BFc noticed that the eta that had manure dumped on it had a tan interior, but that the monster truck eta had a blue interior. So, as much as I hate to say it, there were 2 eta's lost to "top gear".

Damn. Now that you mention it I remember the blue door card as he climbed out of it. And I noticed that the trunk of the monster truck e30 simply said 325 the "e" was gone.

There ya go. Your opinion isn't considered when making these shows. I do get what you're saying though, it's always a shame when a decent car is trashed for the sake of entertainment, but it's not like it was an M3 or a clean IS.

They do show it. I watched half an episode. Decided it was rubbish and went back out to wrestle with a polar bear.
The recipe for a good motoring show is simple I think. Take any car , drive it like it's stolen and report how fun it was / how it felt. No matter if it's a hot hatch or a supercar or something in between.

id say that the parts on the british top gear that are garbage are still entertaining enough for me to want to watch it..where as the american version, which i watched twice, was kept on solely to see if it would some how get better through out the show..and it didnt. both times.

You do realize british Top Gear trashed 3 perfectly good E30 Verts, 1 being an Mtech 1 vert....but it was a GREAT episode.
