    Odd tire rubbing

Hey guys, not sure if this is the right section for this but anyway... I was about to head home with my girlfriend for the holidays and we had the e30 all loaded up and where heading out. But I started noticing some odd chunking noises. I pulled over and found that the rear passenger fender, and that one only, was sitting lower than the driver side rear and as a result was shaving little tiny strips off of the tire whenever I took a hard left or hit a dip...

It first I thought it was because of all the stuff in the car but its still doing it now that its unloaded and everything. Not so much with dips but on a hard left it'll still do it. It wasn't doing this a few weeks ago, and I'm just trying to figure out whats happening. Does this mean that spring is shot? Cause thats the only thing I can think of.

Wheels are Borbet T 16x7.5 with 205/50/16 tires, there were absolutely no rubbing problems before and there is PLENTY of clearance on the driver side. I'm gonna guess its just the spring is shot but figured I'd ask. Thanks in advanced guys, got another 400+ mile drive and I want to make sure my girl and I are safe. Merry christmas!

        How big is your GF?

My tires have been rubbing for the last 2 years and they are still fine.

Haha typical r3v question. She isn't big. Tall but not big. We had a bunch of luggage that would make sense. Though it was all on the driver side... And when it was there was still clearance but like none on passenger.

And now even when the car is unloaded and I'm the only one in it, it still rubs when I make a hard left. And it is only that fender/tire which is the bit I find odd

Would it be the shock or spring? But I was thinking it had to be something like that. It just started out of nowhere though. What would be the best way to test for that? Just take it to a suspension/garage?

Maybe your strut mounts are shot and the extra weight collapsed them or something.

I will agree it's a blown shock. Had the same thing happen to me when our car was loaded up headed to our wedding. The extra weight might have killed it.

Yeah, a friend and I were messing with it today and that side has a lot more give than the driver side :/ guess I'll be buying some new billy sports. Should I just go and replace both the rear? I figure if one went the other may not be far behind

I would replace both rears at the least. Maybe consider replacing the fronts too if they have similar mileage on them.

BTW, H&R race are red and when loaded, the middle three coils sit on top of each other due to being progressive rate.
