    No reason why it wouldn't work, but if I were you I would just go with a new shift lever and get the same end result. I've got the Z3 3.0 lever and I enjoy it. www.understeer.com has kits.

      Just get a kit from BMA. 60 bucks for a ssk made from OEM parts. Get the z3 kit, youll love it.

        You would probably have to modify your rod so that it doesn't hit the guibo/driveshaft. It is a cheap option, but it is worth it to just replace everything for 60 bucks from BMA (www.bmaparts.com).
