    Should I buy a second e30?

    I've got a dilemma..
So I've already got an 89 325i coupe that's 5 speed swapped, coils on the way, new wheels for the summer, etc. It's my daily and my project basically. But last week I happened to find a 88 325i sedan on craigslist that is located less than 15 min. from me. It's cirrus blue on tan vinyl and automatic, the paint is flawless (was stored in a garage its whole life) NO rust, runs great, crack FREE dash, miles are unknown but the cluster only says 65k so I'm guessing it probably has 100k or less (po says it was owned by a wealthy man with multiple cars so probably not driven much). Now the current owner has it listed for 2k on craigs but he sounds like he really wants to get rid of it so I'm thinking about showing up with 1500$ cash and seeing if he will take it.

Now here's the problem, I really don't need the car as I've got other cars to drive if I can't drive my 89 for what ever reasonfor example all winter because I store it or if it's broke down. Should I pick up the 88 because it's damn nice/cheap and use it as a daily or should I try re-sell it to another e30 enthusiast so it will have an owner that can fully enjoy it.

$1.5k is not cheap for a automatic sedan.
I say pass. Put $$ into your current e30.

But rust free in the Midwest is not something that is easily found, I drove all the way to Denver, Co to buy my rust free 89 and I paid 4k$. E30 prices around here seem to generally be close to 3k-4k$ for your average surface rust having e30 so I figured 1.5k$ for a rust free one would be a decent deal..

Rust free e30's are hard as hell to find up here. Plus that's a nice color, so I say buy it and manual swap it.

$1.5 isn't horrible if it is rust free with those miles. I don't think you would make much money on a buy in at $1.5 if you were looking for a quick flip, but you know your local market better than me.

Whenever I see a car for a good deal, I have to check myself. Do I have the room for this and the projects that will go with it? Do I have the time? Do I have more than enough money? Sometimes just going to check it out and driving it helps me realize I don't want it or have time for it.

It may be rust free and e30's may be hard to find in your area.
But big-bumpered automatic sedans are not desirable.
Thats the way i see it. If you want to buy it and keep it thats your deal.
Now if you think, knowing your market, that you can buy it for $1.5k-$2k and resell it for a profit and have the means, time and space to do so then go for it.

You need that like a hole in the head. Stick with your project and let that delightful slushbox, tan vinyl confection go to another loving home.

I have 2. It is pretty cool to have two. Use one as a dd, and the other as your project. Good luck.

I had two but that was out of necessity. Bought one, its was a manual and then tore my lateral meniscus in my left knee 2 days later. So couldn't drive it but loved it so much I went looking for an automatic one cause I needed a car but couldn't use my left leg. Multiple e30 ownership never requires motivation or our good blessing, its just something you do. Go forth!
