bought a new battery. question though

my old diehard battery in the e30, well finally died hard over xmas. so i bought a duralast from autozone. the computer said it would fit the car and yet it doesnt really fit. its sort of sitting on the battery tray on the ledge so its not sitting perfectly flat like it would be at all times. so right now its sitting tilted. and the battery is rear mounted fyi

my question since the battery has fluid, will that affect its operation? or maybe i should get another battery that fits?

You most certainly want a battery that fits. Otherwise it won't be held into place by the battery holder. A battery sliding around and hitting shit can crack/puncture it.

That's the real problem.

Mine does that too. Probably modern battery design or something.
You have to fiddle it around an eventually, it'll fall in place.

the overall dimensions of the duralast and the old diehard battery is the same but it has 'legs' to make it not tip over easily. im thinking maybe i can file this shit off and make it fit better.
