I'm pretty sure you don't wear a 13.5 either. I wear a 17 and wore a 13 back in seventh grade, so I know there are not half sizes after 12.5, so...
Rant: my gripe with ARP.

So this is mainly based off talking to folks on the phone who build m30's and not some josh brown knows all about these engines. I don't think this applies to m20's. The shoulder on the M30 oem head bolt protrudes into the rocker shaft bore. By shoulder, see my snazzy arrow hereOriginally posted by mr325Can you elaborate on this shoulder and how it locates the rocker shafts?

Just to make sure I went into the garage. 1st pic is a m20, see how there is no intrustion from the head bolt into the rocker shaft hole. 2nd is a dirty m30, see how the two bores (head bolt and rocker shaft) intersect? That's where the shoulder presumably exerts some side load or at least locating point for the shaft. This is my understanding, not fact, and has little to do with conversation this thread was originally meant to discuss.

Wow, I never knew that about the M30 cylinder heads. So this is mainly based off talking to folks on the phone who build m30's and not some josh brown knows all about these engines. Now my question is this, what about this design makes you think you shouldn't run ARP?
(I know the thread wasn't about this but at least we're discussing something constructive!)Comment

Shoulder keeps the shaft from moving as the M30 has four shafts, not two like the M20. M20 looks like it is held together by the half moons on the front/back of the head. (IMO)1974.5 Jensen Healey : 2003 330i/5Comment

Either that is a new development, or its just a Nike size chart. They run smaller anyway.
Edit: I can post a chart to defend my statements too.

Does the nut that fastens to the bolt have the shoulder? So this is mainly based off talking to folks on the phone who build m30's and not some josh brown knows all about these engines.
