Who cares, BMW doesn't owe us a damn thing, sorry if people with money being interested in M products offends you. Last I heard BMW was a for-profit company.

I don't hear anyone complaining about the M-Tech convertibles.

In the U.S. we complain that we don't get the good models. This marketing push is a means by which they may try bringing something more European to our shores. Sounds like an opportunity to put some more M flavor on diesel-fed cars which is a good thing. Let's hope for the best.

What he said. I'm failing to see what's so horrible about this.

I hope it means the "real" ///M cars can become more insane; less businessman more hooligan. This should provide BMW with a place for the middle management guy with small man syndrome, who would complain that the ride was to stiff and the exhaust to loud, to buy a car with as many M badges as possible. Thus, preserving the loud, low, and hard M cars for us.

-In reality the problem is the insane horsepower battle that the german car makers are in, that is the reason audi has to split S and RS cars. There was to much disparity between the top of the line base model and the fast cars, so they created a middle of the road category. I wish they'd go on an insane "who can make the lightest four passenger car, battle."

Actually it doesn't, the new lower end 1-Series cars will have FWD. I'll link the Top Gear article when I find it.

I am not surprised. The current 5.0 Mustang matches the performance of current M3. BOSS 302 beats it anytime/anywhere for thousands and thousand less. New upcoming Shelby 500 with 650 hp supposed to start around $55K. Corvettes are already beyond anything with M badge on it anyway (but only 2 seats). I hate Camaros!! What is in the works for next M3? A triple turbo 450hp 6!!! Probably will be over $70K. I am waiting to see what will come out Munich. Money is ready but if its lame, I am going with Carrera S (probably an old-new 997 - if I can find one). No, its not any faster but 911s don't get old, brand new one or 30 yr old one.

For the time being, I am enjoying my E30 and E46 M3.
