    My first E30

Hey guys just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I just picked up an 87 325IS shell yesterday for a little project to keep myself busy. Currently deciding which direction to go in. Dont know if I want to build an all n/a m20b25 or if i want to swap in something larger. I also have a 03 E46 M3 that's my DD.

    Welcome. Another NC guy.

Might be time to paint those M3 wheels again, heh.

E30 looks to be in decent shape, how is the interior? I'd suggest something bigger, M50 at least, although most will say S50/2/4 because we like power.

Nice M3 too, although I'm not a fan of soft tops, but that's me.

Haha yeah I just moved back after spending 2 years in brooklyn...so the wheels on the M3 took a beating. Now its safe and sound here in my garage in wilmington. And yeah i've never been fond of verts either but this one has grown on me. And i can still auto-x a vert with no roll cage.

As far as the E30 goes...the dash is cracked all to hell...has only the driver seat and no carpet. I've got alot of work ahead of me getting this car the way I want it. I need to figure out what to do with these diving boards tho....these bumpers are just damn ugly. The body is almost perfect minus a small dent on the driver door and two tiny rust spots. I'll have all of that fixed by the end of the week though. I have plans of wrapping the M3 in this matte LSB vinyl i've found..so the e30 might meet the same fate since i'll have left overs.

ok you can do the late model pastic bumpers swap, you can go mtechI kit, or you can just "tuck" the DB's by drilling out the bumper shocks and kicking them in. i like options 1 and 3, because i've done them lol.

I'm thinking option one will probably be what I go with because old metal bumpers in general are just blah. Wish i could find an mtech 1 kit but that seems hard to do these days. Hell its bad enough I can't even find someone with an m20b25 yet. Did find the 2.7 motors tho...but dont know if i want to go that route.

Hah yeah the fun part is getting it from maryland to NC. I've got a complete block so I've got an oil pan and what not. I'm just looking for something to tear down and build.

m20's are cheap, you could buy one, rebuild one, and probably dress it a up a good a mount for under 1k bucks!

Yea have fun with the 4.5k redline ETA. I almost grabbed a ETA head for the b25 before I knew what to look for.

I had to take a 12 hour day trip to New Jersey to pick up the M20 thats in the car now.

They are not easy to find unfortunately. My local crazy rays has 3 e30s, 2 ETA's with complete engines, and a B25 that someone already snagged the head off.

Yeah thats my problem. Ive got the b25 block...and intake...and everything else. engine is missing the head though. I'll find one eventually. Untill then I'm going to get the car itself squared away. Hunt down the interior stuff i need...find the late model bumpers and what not...get the suspension taken care of. Lots of things to keep me busy at night and on the weekends.

Well if you want it that head is up for grabs. Could meet half way if the price is right ;)
