    Stored gas would just go bad unless you got it out and used the gas in the can each time you filled up, then filled the can back up = too much work for what it's worth.

          Really? So if I am rolling across the desert and I fill that up as a precaution, or just going on a long road trip and fill it up as a precaution, is it still a novelty? Nope, it's good peace of mind.
