Shipping a cylinder head?

ok since there is already a thread about shipping a diff;

I have two cyl heads on ebay, complete with intake and exhaust manifolds attached. one for a civic and one from an ETA. how should I ship these guys, and through whom?

I just have a ton of people e-mailing me for shipping quotes, and I don't know how to go about that.

I've done 2 different methods, having shipped 3 M20 cylinder heads. The first time, I got two boxes of similar dimensions, one slightly smaller than the other (large enough to fit the head, but with minimal empty space.) I put the smaller box inside the larger box, and filled the space in between with newspaper as tightly as I could. I then packed the head into the smaller box even more tightly with more newspaper, and then mummified the box in 3M clear packing tape. Shipped without incident using FedEx Ground.

The second time, I purchased a Rubbermaid container about the same dimensions as the head, and packed it inside with newspaper as tightly as possible. I then put the lid on, and drilled several holes through the lid and the container, and zip-tied the lid to the container in about 10 places, and then wrapped the entire container with the same 3M clear tape. Both methods worked just fine. If you're going to go with the second suggestion, figure the cost of the container in with your shipping quote.

Go to goodwill, find a used towel. Wrap head with towel. Put head in cardboard box. Use a slightly bigger box to package this box. (Or cut apart a box the same size and tape it over the first box....preferably with duct tape)

I have a wooden box custom made for heads, It has handles at the end to ease the lift for Fed Ex boys. It has a box that is screwed together, and buyer is responsible for shipping box back.

IE reusable container.
