oh snap^ that doesn't sound good.

I think I've found the filter setup I will use. It will use a velocity stack and filter setup, no shield. It will use a 6" wide velocity stack and then the Filter will install onto that. This is actually how the COBB short ram intake on my subaru works.

Im not saying get rid of the sheild comlletely just keep it the same diameter over the whole filter instead of following the cone shape. Also ive seen the turbo suck the rubber peice that joins the inverted filter right off and destroy the turbo. So you may not want to use that style of filter.

That way you dont have any ristriction similar to running the filter uncovered in the engine bay. This is just a thought and seems like it could work in my head.

I think I may go with a completely different style filter for the turbo setup. I may go with one of those cone filters with the inverted cone in the tip. the reason to use a shield is because it gets a lot of air flow in the front valance and gets dirty very quick without one.

that picture doesnt really do it justice, the filter is 6.5 inches across and 5" tall. I'll cut it up and show some better pictures it should have more surface area than stock filter. Its a bit on the stubby side so it looks smaller than it is. The entire canister is actually 7" across compared to my current kit which is about 5.5" and the done straightens turbulent air entering the canister.

well I just ordered the silicone ducts, and this kits will likely be in the $100 range, maybe lower if I ended up ordering too much silicone or something. This new canister gains about 2" of clearance because it doesnt need a seperate coupler to attach to the MAF or AFM.

These are available in 4" inlet/3" outlet and 4" inlet/3.5" outlet
These will be much louder than before and the filter is also much wider than before.
Silicone ducting will be here next week and then I will do the Final test fit and work out the bugs.

so gonna buy that this weekend or in two weeks.

Its not really my style but I can offer the shield in a fake carbon look along with the ABS plastic version, the price would be the same regardless. The total should be around $100 for everything. These would have high quality silicone ducting, and nice SS worm gear clamps.
