    Tell me about the Z3

Its always been there, right on that side of the BMW lineup but it never really interested me untill now. What are the ins and outs? Years to get/not get. The 1.9 vs. 2.8 ect ect. Im not looking to spend much more than 13-14k. Opinions ect? It seems like a sports car for the sake of being a sports car. Definately not a saloon car. I just want to experience a car ment to be drivin. You cant get that in a 4 door, well you could argue but a sports coupe is going to be totaly different. DISCUSS BITCHES

2.8L's are all aluminum...perfect for throwing into your e30. Mechanically they're fairly sound, engines are good, 5 lug suspension, stock brakes will stop on a dime. But it is a convertible, has no trunk space, isn't the manliest of cars to drive, and the cabin is rather small...especially with the roof up, I bet someone 6'2" couldn't fit in with the roof up.

I drove some in a car racing school which had them tricked out, so there is definitely potential for improving everything about it. Except the engines, no sense in doing an engine swap on these cars.

Yea I was thinking it would be fast enough with the 2.8. Chickish? Meh, anything to look for though? Huge trouble areas? Im like 5.10 so no issue there. thanks.

The only z3 i would be interested in is the coupe version. If you can find a 2.8 coupe for a reasonable price i would spring for one of those.

Probably out of your price range though.

EDIT: actually maybe they are in your price range!

You have also forgotten about the M54 3.0 version produced to 2002 available in coupe or roadster.

My guess would be that those are out of the range too. The coupes are sweet, but also for the msot part out of the range. To get a good example of a car you dont want to be looking at the lower end of the range. When were the coupes made? The non m versions seem very scarse.

just buy a clean 240z from arizona nad dumpt 13k into it. done. rb26dett 5 lug big brakes etc. http://hybridz.org/

having driven many z3/z4's i must say it is rather small. and useless as a DD but as a get in turn the key weekend car. go for it. still trailing arms though..

why do you say useless dd? I dont drive in the winter being that i live in boston. Summer, it would be like strictly a date car.

You're a freshman in college. In Boston nonetheless. You don't need/want a Z3. Pick something more practical.

well i wouldnt even be able to drive the thing in the winter. It would be a summer only car. No need for a super DD or anything.

as strictly a date car its perfect.. you get the Oh look a bmw. plus they are quick. useless as a dd because you cant fit much in them. but if you are a single young guy itd probably be perfect. especially if one of your friends have a truck. s2k for the win though seriously. they are a blast
