What would you trade an M3 for?

They are a very venue specific vehicle in terms of leaving an impression. Unless you are somewhere where you can drive at an honest 10/10 they are hard to fully appreciate. Just putting around town stop light to stop light, they will almost certainly leave you underwhelmed.sigpic

I don't own an E30 M3 but if I did, the only cars I would give it up for are:
Mitsubishi Evo III

Lotus Exige Cup 240

BNR32 GTR

KPGC110 GTR, or replica with a tough N/A L28.
RS1800 MK2 Escort

Last is my personal favourite car, the Escort Cosworth RS. Completely unrealistic to own in Australia though.

insert s54 into e30m3, replace suspension with jdm or the like coil overs, badass 17 or 18" wheels = instant stoplight gratification with e30m3 and we don't have to have this stupid conversation anymore.
problem solved.sigpic

I'd trade mine for a '72 Skyline. Around town the M3 is fine. I'd rather drive an M3 around town than a normal E30, civic, Camry ect. I positively cannot figure out why you people give them such a hard time. Around town it drives like a car, it does nothing evil, and looks good doing it. The stereo works, the heater works, what more do you want? There are much worse cars for around town (as in most.)
