Ok so. I looked at the car.

It's got some rust. Mostly cosmetic, would need cutting and welding. Door jams are in tact though. Worst is the rear fender lips.

It's got 133k on it and records since 1978.

Needs a windshield.

Interior needs a good cleaning, but it's nit bad. Seats in tact, etc. Needs a center console.

Trunk. Full fucking tool kit with both red screw drivers and the blue rag...in good condition. WHAT!

Still on the old 14" BBS Mahle wheels.

Engine has a fresh head.

Needs a brake caliper.

Honestly, to me, it's worth it. It'd be one of those couple-of-year-tear-down-to-bare-metal-cut-weld-paint-replace projects that ends up netting me a like new condition e24. Sure, the worth of the car would probably be exceeded, but e24s are, well, e24s.

The main parts needing replacement would be suspension parts. Paint is in good condition, but would need to be ruined to cut out the rusty spots.

It wouldn't start last night. Battery was dead as it sat for a few weeks. Going back tonight to see it run.

The owner is actually a friend of a couple friends and I know him through Facebook. We've discussed BMWs before. He's a really cool guy and has sourced many of the parts. Car would come with new door cards, etc, although, IMO, it doesn't need them.

Wrong year and engine, I have owned 3 e24s my fav was my 87 635csi

I've got an '85 M30 with 5sp I could put in it, but this car has full records from 1978, so I'm inclined not to for the originality aspect. Another factor in getting this one.

Congrats.... Yeah for me its really hard to compare the two cars, they are totally differant. The thing I love about e30s is just grabbing them by the horns and beating them to death...The harder you drive them the more the car seems to get better. If you get bored in an e30, you have problems.

The E24 is still a BMW and you can still let it rip on freeway onramps and stuff like that but I find myself enjoying the car most when im just cruzing it. It feels much more like a conventional classic car, and slightly James Bondish..

I've been told the M60 would fit the character of the car, but honestly unless this M30 is garbage, I'll just stick with it and drop the M60 in dad's red e30 'vert.

I'm contemplating the benefits of slapping my M90 euro head on the M30B32....
