I want a motorcycle!! Need advice!!

For those who know a lil about motorcycles : )

Good day to all! I want to buy this 600rr: http://qc.kijiji.ca/c-autos-et-vehic...AdIdZ356409530

But he says it needs a cluster... could that be sign of some other problem that you guys would know about? I mean like people unplug warning lights in cars so that it looks like everything is working...

I guess i wanna know if its easy to fix the cluster (replace it) and/if you guys think it looks like a good bike! Thank you all!!!

Ask him why it needs a cluster, like what is not working. Sometimes people change the sprockets and it will mess with the speed signal and you need a flash to correct it.

Have you ridden before? don't buy a bike and not take classes. I wrecked after a month of riding and didn't walk for 6 months and still have issues over a yr and a half later.

If it is your first bike I'd steer clear of an RR.

I agree with everyone else. If this is your first bike, do NOT get a 600RR. It's death city if you're not experienced. Get a 250 first, they're still plenty fast enough to kill you. I had a 600 as my first bike, big mistake, wrecked that shit within a month and am lucky as fuck that I didn't get killed by a box truck when it happened.

Also, Canada has more bike selection than the US, especially smaller ones.

Don't get a 250, you will get bored easily. If you are a beginner, by all means, a nice 650 v-twin bike like a Suzuki SV650 or Ninja 650 is perfect. They are not as touchy as the 4-pot bikes and a lot more forgiving. I have a SV650s right now and it is plenty fast for me as well as a lot of fun in the twisties. You won't get into much trouble with it because you wont be able to go much higher than 130mph if you ever plan to top it out. But as said by the others, don't jump on a rr right away because you can get into some serious trouble with that thing as a beginner.

Side note: Staying out of trouble really relies on your capability to keep your mind under control while riding. As long as you know your limitations, you will be fine.

Get a Dodge Tomahawk and have OCC customize it.

Grew up riding dirt bikes and got a 600 for my first bike, so glad I made that decision, I would have been bored of a 250 very fast.. Cluster might have just shorted out, not really sure what makes those go bad. But 5k seems steep for an 03 that has been layed over.

start with a non sport bike, like a 80s 750 night hawk or rebel. they are a dime a dozen, have enough power to content you until you are experienced enough for a faster more expensive bike.

Started on a 600cc GSXR myself, and never recommend it to anyone. They CAN be hard to handle as they are very VERY touchy and while they are fast that aren't "omgwtfbbq" fast like the 1000cc inline 4's. They are extremely uncomfortable to ride around town, I recommend getting a SV650 from suzuki as they're fantastic starter bikes from every person I ever talked to (except the attention whoring standard sportbike rider in Icon gear and steel toe workboots). I considered selling my k9 GSXR 750 for its bigger brother the SV1000 last season but it financially could not be managed.

It's worth noting that practically every bike is fast enough to kill you, how quickly you become over confident and get in over your head is entirely up to you, and the newer sportbikes give a ton of confidence.

I agree also. But would like to add that getting a bike with a more upright position will also be beneficial on your first bike. You have better range of sight, people can see you a little more & they are much easier to control!

What's the motorcycle for? That might help advice givers

Personally, I steered clear of the street bikes. I got a supermoto, crf450r. I started out on a 50cc when I was like 5, moved up to a 125, then a baja crf230, then rode my dads drz400 for awhile, and about 2 years ago I picked up the supermoto I currently have.

                            I guess I'm a bit biased though, I love riding dirt ;)

                            Pics? Ok!!

                            Current: crf450r ca street legal

                              Sick!! Distanzias?

I have a Husky SMR that's currently non-running due to a clogged hydraulic clutch line.
