So because my engine is tuned by Mark D'Sylva, it's now his engine?
not what im saying at all. mclaren totally revamped the engine to their own spec and put it in their own car. I dont even think the fuel injection/mapping is the same. Your car was only tuned by someone else for you, do you see what i mean?
:curse: stop trying to get me all flustered!!!
"Having won more road races than any other model in history, the E30 M3 is considered by many to be the world's most successful road race car." - Simply put, E30s kick ass.
It doesn't matter who tuned the engine. McLaren contracted BMW to design and build the engine for them. Pretty much every component of the S70/2 was engineered and assembled by BMW. It's a BMW engine.
Present day example: the motor in the Lotus Elise is tuned by Lotus engineers, but it's still a Toyota engine - same one that's in a Celica or Matrix.

They are Motorsport engines. Yes, they have a lot in common with a regular M50/M52 engine and almost nothing in common with the euro S50B30/B32, but they were still made by BMW Motorsport Division.

no. And the matrix doesn't have a 2zzge. ACTUALLY if you want to get technical, the 2zzge was built by yamaha for toyota.

Matrix XRS and Celica GT-S share the exact same 180hp 2ZZ-GE engine.
Yeah I know Yamaha designed that engine (and a bunch others for "performance" Toyotas), but the point I was trying to make is that Lotus won't call it their engine just because they did some final tuning tweaks.
I guess a better example would be the Pagani Zonda: you'll read "Mercedes AMG" on the engine because that's who was contracted to produce the engine specifically for the car.

i wonder if BMW motorsport designed the v12 in the 760i/il, anyone know?
Nope. The N73B60, while having a lot of high tech features, is just a regular production non-Motorsport engine.

I was making a general point, which applied to BMW because you didn't believe me the first time or something... ?
Now I give up. I've given up on you like 5 times in the last week.
