    Dash cluster: half ilumination

    Hi everyone;

    My dash cluster only iluminates the speedometer and gasoline gauge leaving the tach and temp gauge un-lighted.
    Could it be that precisely all the right side (facing cluster) light bulbs are damaged? Could the cause be something else based on your experience?
    I haven't removed the cluster yet waiting to buy some bulbs just in case they actually are damaged.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

        Take gauge cluster out. Order new bulbs, every fucking one. Replace every bulb. Problem solved for the next 20 years.

          what he said....seriously I was pissed when I saw it half out, b/c I dread taking that thing out for fear of snapping the "ears" off, but I hit a bump and it turned back on...so now if I notice it out when I start a car, I give it a good whack - it also "unsticks" my MPG needle (sticks a little ever since i painted it)

            The cluster is really quite easy to remove without damage. You don't even have to remove the steering wheel. Just be sure to tilt out the top first after removing all (6?) screws.

            There are only two bulbs for cluster illumination - right and left sides. All the other lamps are for indicators/warnings. Sounds like you just have a bad bulb.

            Oh, and be sure to use the correct replacement bulb for the illumination. There is a higher wattage bulb that looks identical but will melt the plastic diffuser if used.
