    How? What? Impossible!



    How in the world does the round part go onto the ignition wire? I pulled the complete cap and wires off my 325i parts car and went to put them on the 325is. On the iS they looked like in the picture I posted above but off the parts car, they weren't connected. The parts car ran like a charm! So I'm guessing it's not needed?

    take the resistors off the tops of the sparkplugs.

      That's not what I'm talking about, I'm talking about that plastic piece surrounding the wire on the far left

            What are the years of the E30's that you are trying to swap these between?

                Well that thing, how can I get it on the wire? Like I said it wasn't on there on the 325i and it ran good, but on the is it was connected

                        If the 6th wire is in decent shape on your 88, you might be able to route it into the plastic sheath of the 87's wires. Then you've at least replaced 6/8 of the wires.

                        But that's a pretty shade tree way of doing it. So unless you are stuck and cant afford the new parts.

                          Na I don't neeeeed new wires the ones on my 87 just looked a bit better so I thought of swapping them since they're just sitting there

                            The same thing happend to me last week, the parts store gave us wires without the signal wire and I had to just put the old wires back on.

                              Well since I have this thread opened anyone have a cheap crank position sensor I want to see if that's the problem with the iS not starting.
                              It's an 88 325is.
